United States, Super Spender or Super Power?
The current United States national debt is over 14 trillion dollars. This leads me to ask the question: Is the United States still considered a top world power? Can a country that goes further and further into debt every minute still have the power to influence other countries? My answer is yes. The definition of a world power is a country that is so powerful it is capable of changing the course of world events. The United States military is certainly capable of changing world events, but so are many other things in the United States. For example the U.S. was the first country to have facebook, which is now worldwide. The U.S. was also the first to have McDonalds, which is also worldwide. Maybe these two things aren't the best contributions to society, but they are a large part of today's society. The United States still influences other countries, because its citizens are constantly thinking of "the next big thing", always striving to live the American dream.
Local News
Blogs are supposed to address current or important events. When I sat down to write this blog I could not think of a single current or important event that hadn't already been talked about a million times. I was desperate, so I sat down and watched my local news. Biggest mistake of my life! News shows are supposed to inform you, but this news show made me laugh. There were moments when I could tell the news casters were talking, because I could see there mouths moving, but I heard nothing. There were also random moments when the news casters were talking and a completely unrelated picture popped up on the screen. I am not writing to trash local news shows, but to show were a simple laugh is always close at hand. After all one-hundred percent of chiropractors agree, laughter is good for you.
